Stamp duty land tax on property purchases was reformed in December 2014 and is now calculated more like income tax. The rates payable increase marginally, as shown below.
- £0-£125,000 – 0pc
- £125,001-£250,000 – 2pc
- £250,001-£925,000 – 5pc
- £925,001-£1.5m – 10pc
- £1.5m+ – 12pc
